Non-Immigrant Visa
For this visa application, only students from foreign partner university with existing academic agreement are allowed to proceed. Upon arrival of the international students in the Philippines, they will be required to report immediately to the Office of International Linkages at University of the Philippines Los Baños (OIL-UPLB) for the process of applying for a Special Non-Immigrant visa (47a2).

Student Visa
In order for an international student (IS) to secure the University’s s study permit and proceed with enrollment, they must secure a proper and valid student visa (9F). Foreign nationals under the diplomatic and consular missions (9E/9E2), SIRV (Special Investors Resident Visa) and SRRV (Special Resident Retirees Visa) holders are exempted from securing 9F but are also required to present their visa to ISR for the issuance of University’s Study Permit.

Hospitals inside and outside the UPLB campus provide different medical services. The University Health Service (UHS) is a DOH-accredited secondary-level hospital at UPLB that serves the health care requirements of the university's students, workers, and dependents and the Los Baños neighborhood surrounding areas. Other major hospitals in Los Baños are Los Baños Doctors Hospital and Medical Center (LBDHMC), HealthServ Los Baños, Inc. and St. Jude Family Hospital. There are also medical and dental clinics within the area.

1. Eligibility
- Students must have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in order to be eligible for the exchange program.
2. Application Deadline
- Three months before the regular registration period
- Remote learning set-up: One month before the regular registration period
3. Duration of the Exchange Program
- One semester or two semesters (one academic year).
4. Tuition Fee
- Students pay local tuition fees to their home institution (for exchange programs with existing MOU/MOA)
5. Medium of Instruction
- All classes in UPLB are taught in English. Students will be studying alongside regular students of UPLB.
6. Academic Credits
- No. of credits per course: 1-5 credits
- Maximum credits to be taken:
- 1st or 2nd sem: 18 units
- MidYear: 6 units
- Please coordinate with your home institution on the number of credits required for your semester exchange at the University of the Philippines Los Banos.
7. Acceptance Notice
- Upon approval, the UPLB Registrar’s office will send the Admission Notice.
8. Admission Requirements
- Nomination by home university
- Application form (non-degree application form for undergraduate students)
- Two pieces identical 2×2 photo (for study permit-ISR) and 3 pieces identical 1 x 1 ID photo (for OUR)
- Birth certificate
- Photocopy of passport information page
- Original copy of transcript of records (academic records)
- Personal history statement form*
- Health insurance*
- Proof of financial support (bank certificate either from the student or parents or copy of scholarship grant) * – for 47(a)2 visa application

9. Course Selection
- Students can choose courses from different colleges.
- Students need to fulfill prerequisites to take certain courses.
- All courses are subject to availability at the beginning of the semester. Any subsequent changes to the selection of courses are subject to the approval of the faculty-in-charge and timetable availability.

The International Students Relations (ISR) is a unit under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs. It is the center of information, activities, and services for international students of UPLB. ISR helps ensure and maintain international students’ legal status, assists in their adjustments to UPLB, and looks over their health, safety, and well-being. ISR has the following programs and services for international students:
- Cultural Exchange and Development aims to orient international students about the University, the Filipino culture and norms of behavior, and basic Filipino communication;
- International Relations is valuable in allowing students of different nations to cooperate with one another, help pool resources, and share pertinent information;
- Recognition Programs aim to strengthen the role of international students especially graduating international students in the promotion of the University and further its purpose while living up to the ideals of honor and excellence;
- Leadership Trainings for international students are an opportunity to develop and improve their leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Inter-school Cultural Exchange Activities refer to collaborations with other universities/institutions for the promotion of cultural exchange.
- Mentoring Programs for International Students is designed to help them adjust in the University with the help of upper-class students, compatriots, and other significant individuals who can provide guidance from the admissions process all the way to graduation.
ISR also facilitates the following for inbound students:
- Evaluation and monitoring of international students’ records such as tagging/untagging of SAIS;
- Coordination of registration and scholarship /financial assistance before and upon arrival of international students;
- Assurance of health and wellness such as coordination with the University Health Service, other local hospitals, Office of Counselling and Guidance, the Graduate School, and other concerned offices and units;
- Provision of socio-cultural immersion and further development and implementation of programs beneficial to international students ;
- Provision of information about UPLB, its services, and the Philippines;
- Collaboration with the International Student Association (ISA);
- Collaboration with other student organizations such as the Society of Exchange Students and the Graduate School Council; and
- Coordination and implementation of programs and activities with other concerned UPLB offices/units relating to student services and welfare.

“The Society of Exchange Students – UP is a non-partisan, non-profit, pro-student, and socio-civic organization that gathers UPLB students with exchange experiences or those who have passion for exchange. SExS-UP primarily focuses on promoting exchange of culture and ideas and sharing of exchange experiences among the members of the organization and the University of the Philippines Los Baños studentry.”

This page details the protocols for UPLB faculty and staff involved in international engagements. The protocols are created to facilitate acceptance and reception procedures for those visiting the University.
Non-Immigrant Visa
