Dr. Celia Bardwell-Jones, a faculty member at the University of Hawaii (UH), paid a courtesy call to the Office of International Linkages (OIL) on Sept. 8 to explore academic partnerships between UH and UPLB. She was accompanied by Krissah Marga B. Taganas and Raemel Niklaus P. Leyretana, both faculty members at the Department of Humanities (DHum) of the College of Arts and Sciences of UPLB.

UH and DHum are interested in the joint development of a collaborative online international learning (COIL) program. COIL will enable UPLB students to collaborate and interact with their counterparts from UH in a class using internet tools and innovative online pedagogies. It will motivate students to take ownership of their learning and extend their opportunities to learn from each others’ culture. (MDCVelasco)
