Be part of the International Joint Summer Seminar 2024. Themed "Cities and Communities: Thriving Locally in a Global Age," this seminar is a collaborative effort between UNP and local municipalities of Niigata Prefecture.

Theme: Sustainable Development in the Face of Globalization Challenges

Focus: The seminar will spotlight Tsubame-Sanjyo, a prominent region renowned for its metal manufacturing industry. Participants will delve into the intricacies of globalization, examining its impact on cities and communities worldwide.

Objectives:
- Explore opportunities and challenges posed by globalization.
- Analyze the case study of Tsubame-Sanjyo to understand thriving amidst global economic shifts.
- Foster cultural exchange and deepen understanding of regional development challenges.
- Cultivate local competence through special lectures, field trips, and group work activities.

Activities:
- Special lectures on sustainable development and globalization challenges.
- Field trips to Tsubame-Sanjyo, offering insights into its industrial landscape.
- Group work sessions to brainstorm solutions for regional development challenges.
- Cultural exchange programs to facilitate intercultural understanding.

Fees:

-UNP will cover all relevant costs for transportation, field trips, and cultural exchanges throughout the program.
-Accommodation in Niigata from August 4-8, 2024, will be arranged for participants traveling from outside of Niigata.
-Participants are responsible for covering their travel expenses to and from Niigata.
-Meals during the program are to be covered by the participants themselves.

Students that will not graduate by August 2024 from UPLB are welcome to apply.
