On January 22, the esteemed Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency Hae Kyong Yu was welcomed to the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) campus. The visit featured a momentous tree-planting activity at the Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG), a joint effort between UPLB and the Philippine-Australian Alumni Association, Inc. (PA3I).

Ambassador Yu engaged in meaningful discussions with university officials and personnel who have completed their graduate studies in Australia. During the visit, Asst. Prof. Anna Floresca F. Firmalino, Director of the Office of International Linkages (OIL), presented ongoing collaborations and future initiatives of UPLB with the Australian Government. The discussions included opportunities for postgraduate studies, collaboration between higher education institutions (HEIs), and the enhancement of Philippine-Australia relations.

Ambassador Yu’s visit did not only strengthen ties but also paved the way for collaborative efforts that will benefit the academic community and contribute to the shared goals of both nations. (MDCVelasco)
